Reston, Va. — The ACR-AAPM Radiation Safety Officer Resources is now available for physicians and medical physicists serving as radiation safety officers at medical facilities. This new document was developed jointly by medical physicists from the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).
“The new resource explains, organizes and provides links to essential federal and advisory resources that every radiation safety officer needs to have at their fingertips,” said Richard Geise, PhD, Chair of the ACR Commission on Medical Physics and Certified Radiological Physicist at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
Jessica Clements, MS, project chair and Chief Physicist at Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles added “The resources also provide useful sample policies, procedures and forms to help both new and veteran radiation safety officers.”
