Philips is one of the
world's biggest producers
of lights.
Royal Philips Electronics said Friday it bought medical lighting company Burton Medical Products Corporation for an undisclosed amount.
Philips purchased the 82-year-old, Chatsworth, Calif.-based health care lighting company from Norwegian industrial group Glamox ASA. Burton will get enfolded within the Philips Professional Luminaires business group, a division of Philips Lighting, the Amsterdam-based electronics giant said.
"The acquisition of Burton will add a range of specialized medical lighting solutions to our general lighting portfolio for the health care segment, while building further the position of Philips as a total solutions provider to the medical profession," Professional Luminaires' general manager Marc de Jong said in a statement.
