Heartstart 3000 is a lightweight portable battery powered semi-automatic defibrillator with an LCD monitor for displaying ECG and operating messages. When connected to a patient via cables and self-adhesive defibrillation electrodes and turned on, Heartstart 3000 prompts the operator to take specific actions, analyzes the ECG, charges the shock capacitor and indicates whether a shockable rhythm is present. The operator discharges the device.
The recognition of a shockable arrhythmia (ventricular fibrillation or rapid ventricular tachycardia) is based on an ECG analysis system as specified in an algorithm.
ECG signals are picked up via two large disposable defibrillation electrodes. Discharge energy levels of 200 J and 360 J are offered (25 J, 50 J, 100 J, 200 J and 360 J when used with a Manual Medical Control Module).
Impedance between attached patient electrodes is monitored to ensure proper ECG signal acquisition and defibrillation electrode contact. The patient ECG may also be acquired through high quality ECG monitoring electrodes. Defibrillation through these electrodes is prevented.
Power is provided from an easily exchanged rechargeable sealed lead-acid battery installed in the side of the Heartstart 3000.
Device status, warnings and operating messages are presented on the lower part of the display. Adjacent pushbuttons are used to operate the device. Voice messages, or "Prompts", from a loudspeaker reinforce important displayed messages.
Medical Control Module Plus for semi-automatic operation is a small solid state memory records information about the defibrillator and EGG in a format for later review by medical control authorities and device operators. Print out from the module is provided from a separate Heartstart Reporter connected to a standard computer printer, or the Heartstart Quick Reporter. The Heartstart Medical Control Module is equipped with a Lithium battery.
The Medical Control Module Plus records information about the opera¬tion of the device and stores up to 20 minutes of the patient's ECG in its solid state memory for later print out of a Report.
The Heartstart 3000QR printer attaches to the rear of the Heartstart 3000 and contains a high performance printer/recorder mechanism. The printer can generate medical control reports from the Medical Control Module Plus (MCM Plus) when it is installed in the Heartstart 3000QR.
The rugged softpack allows storage of electrodes, spare battery and spare Medical Control Module, and carrying by the shoulder strap and general protection
