Siemens Healthineers and the University Hospital Nantes (CHU de Nantes) have entered into a 12-year partnership, with a total volume of €55 million ($60 million).

The agreement focuses on advancing diagnostic and interventional imaging technologies across 13 public hospitals, including the installation of cutting-edge equipment and collaboration on research and education initiatives. This includes nine photon-counting CT scanners, six virtually helium-free MR scanners, as well as 30 mobile C-arms and nine angiography units.

The collaboration will support the University Hospital Nantes' move to a new main facility by 2027, ensuring imaging capabilities remain uninterrupted during the transition. Additionally, Siemens Healthineers will provide planning security and continuity through a structured financial framework to ensure efficient purchasing and operational sustainability.

Research and education are key components of the program, with Siemens Healthineers contributing seed funding to establish a medical imaging research lab and providing ongoing training for hospital staff. Sustainability efforts will also be prioritized, with MR upgrades designed to extend life cycle, reduce environmental impact, and lower helium consumption.

“This purchasing strategy is an opportunity for the department’s medical teams and patients as they will benefit from cutting-edge solutions and high-level care,” said Philippe El Saïr, CEO of the University Hospital Nantes.
