Nearly two years after its merger into the third largest health system in Illinois, NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health has rebranded as Endeavor Health.
In 2021, NorthShore University HealthSystem
began talks with Edward-Elmhurst Health to combine into a nine-hospital system,
finalizing the merger in January 2022. Today, the combined health system has more than 7,100 physicians who serve over 4.2 million residents, including more than 1.3 million in the Chicagoland area. As of September, its operational revenue was $8.2 million.
It has more than 300 sites of care, and its hospitals include Edward (Naperville), Elmhurst, Evanston, Glenbrook (Glenview), Highland Park, Northwest Community (Arlington Heights), Skokie and Swedish (Chicago), and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health Hospital. Under the Endeavor Health name, all hospitals will retain their names and join outpatient and corporate sites and the health system's integrated medical group and clinically integrated network.
“Together, our 27,000-plus team members, as part of one team, are driven by our commitment — our Endeavor — to set a new standard for healthcare by delivering a truly personal patient experience combined with seamless access to pioneering, world-class care,” said J.P. Gallagher, president and chief executive officer of Endeavor Health, in a statement.
Patients will continue receiving the same services as before and will receive updates and information from Endeavor Health, as will the health system’s partners and community members.
Branded channels and communications, including websites, signage, uniforms, and more will change in the next few months to reflect the name change, with the health system unveiling a new brand advertising campaign in the first quarter of 2024.
Endeavor Health is also the second-largest medical group in Illinois and home to the largest primary care-embedded clinical genomics program in the U.S. It runs five Clinical Institutes, including Cardiovascular, Primary Care, Cancer, and the nationally-ranked Neurosciences and Orthopaedic & Spine Institutes, and is a research and innovation hub overseeing more than 550 active clinical trials.
Endeavor Health says that its focus will be on the health, well-being, and economic security of its communities. Since its merger, it has awarded more than $10.6 million to over 30 community-based partnerships, as part of its Community Investment Funds, and plans to financially back another round of recipients in January 2024.
