Philips Learning Center provides an affordable module on Diagnosing Coronary Artery Disease and Cath Lab Intervention. The one-credit cardiology module is priced at $15.00.
Module Description: The pathophysiology and clinical aspects of cardiovascular disease will be discussed to provide the background necessary to understand the disease. Identification of risk factors and changes in lab values associated with myocardial disease will be evaluated. Myocardial ischemia, injury, and infarction will be incorporated with clinical signs and symptoms to identify the type of angina. The concepts of ST segment changes will be used to determine the phase of a myocardial infarction. Coronary anatomy will be applied to identify an infarction on 12 lead EKG. The concepts of determining a non-transmural from a transmural MI will be explained. Hypokinesis, akinesis, and dyskinesis of the left ventricle will be correlated with the area of infarction. Correlating the etiology of the disease state with the presenting clinical signs and symptoms will help in associating the appropriate preventative and interventional measures.
