Siemens Healthineers announced yesterday that its MAGNETOM Vida 3T MR system scored FDA clearance.
The system features the company's new BioMatrix technology that compensates for both inherent anatomical and physiological differences and user variability. That can lessen the number of re-scans and improve productivity.
BioMatrix Sensors that are built into the MAGNETOM Vida's patient table automatically track respiratory patterns to help the clinician determine the best exam strategy.
To improve the quality and reproducibility of whole-spine diffusion imaging, the system's BioMatrix Tuners make individual slice adjustments, which prevents distortion that usually occurs with 3T scanners.
The BioMatrix Interfaces accelerate scanning by up to 30 percent and help to achieve consistently high-quality exams. In addition, the company's Compressed Sensing Cardiac Cine clinical application can accelerate scans by a factor of 10 to allow for free-breathing cardiac exams.
The MAGNETOM Vida has a new generation of ultra-high-density BioMatrix coils with a patient adaptive design. The BioMatrix Spine coils can automatically acquire and display patient respiratory data.
The BioMatrix Head and Neck coils were designed with CoilShim technology so the image quality is reproducible in every exam. The Shoulder Shape and Tx/Rx Knee coils for orthopedic application are more flexible for large patients.
The UltraFlex Large and Small coils for multi-purpose imaging are also very flexible and have an ultra-high-density coil element.
The intuitive user interface is capable of correct one-touch positioning of the patient table, based on intelligent body models. The patient table is motorized and can assist clinicians in moving immobile, trauma and obese patients to and from the system.
The system is also equipped with GO technologies that simplify workflows for brain, spine and joint exams with one-touch patient positioning and the ability to transfer clinical images to the hospital's PACS.
The MAGNETOM Vida's Eco-Power technology automatically deactivates power-hungry components when they are inactive for long periods of time. That can potentially lower total cost of ownership over the system's lifetime.
