Medical supply company CareFusion Corporation named Dr. Carlos M. Nunez as its new chief medical officer on Monday.
The 45-year-old anesthesiologist, intensivist and hospitalist worked the past 11 years as a chief physician executive at Picis, a health care software and consulting company owned by Ingenix. Before that, he practiced as a clinician and directed critical care education and research at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast, a 457-bed medical center in Concord, N.C.
"He has published and presented extensively on the topics of health care informatics, clinical data analysis, medical technology, cerebral blood flow auto-regulation and medical history," CareFusion said in a statement.
The San Diego-based company makes drug pumps, patient identification systems, ventilators, surgical instruments and skin prep products.
