1)make sure the cover is not stopping motion of the blades
2) recycle system, does motor drive ?
3) if motor drives and blades move, check end of travel sensor
At power-up it runs a test on all motors (collimator, compression and tube). The algorithm for the collimator blades test is the stepper motor makes the blade move so it reaches the optic switch then (not sure if maximum opening or closes)it goes back to the default position. If the motor, optic and mechanical are OK and still gives this error, worst case would be a gantry power board. Many years back to confirm gantry board problem is we interchange the motor and optic connectors in the head (lateral and longitudinal blades). Common problem with this gentry power board is that there is a Resistor Pack surface-mount at the trace side that opens (solder related) due to heat generated by the compression resistors.

Lateral collimator: slipping during collimator movement *** 158/019
158/019: check for play between collimator lateral motor axis and pulley (screw not
tightened). Possible problem with 800PL1 (Gantry power board).
