NOTE: The Smart CR / XG-1 / CR-IR346 must have a dedicated IIP or “host” IIP in order to function. Other IIP’s can be configured to work with the Smart but the host IIP must be funtional first.
To configure this IIP use the following steps:
1.) Make sure the IIP and Smart are connected with a crossover and both units are powered on.
2.)From the IIP Desktop GO TO: CR346 User utility
3.)Select NEW then enter desired Name and IP address:
NOTE: Default IP for the IIP is 172.16.1.20 Default IP for the Smart CR346 is 172.16.1.10
4.)Select OK
5.)You will be prompted for the Smart CR software CD. Insert the CD and select Install.Select the latest version A10 then select Install.
6.)Two PC-MUTL windows will appear.
Close the tool labeled PC-MUTL and select the latest version A10 in the PC-MUTL 1.4 window
then press OK
7.)In the config window enter the appropriate ip addresses and subnet. The IIP and FTP Server addresses must match. Do not change any other configuration items and MOST IMPORTANTLY, NEVER Shut down the smart or IIP while software is loading. This can damage the Smart CPU and it will have to be replaced. After entering configuration entries select SET.
8.)Smart will beep with flashing light and the progress of the installation will display in a status bar on the IIP. When PC-MUTL 1.4 window displays “Complete” select OK.
9.)At this point, the Smart and IIP may disconnect and not recognize each other on the network if the IP addresses had been changed in the Smart but not the IIP. To function properly, change the IIP address by going to Network places > Right mouse > Local Area Connection > Right Mouse > properties > General Tab > TCP/IP > Properties. Change IP , Subnet , Gateway as required.
10.)Go to Setup Configuration Item > Network Config > All other nodes > ru0 (or current hostname of Smart CR) Change IP to match CR.
11.)Complete STEP IX to completely enable the Smart CR to IIP
12.)When the Fuji application is started, the IIP should recognize the Smart and it will reinitialize. The connection is confirmed when the left display illuminates on the Smart CR and the toolbar on the application displays the RU (Smart CR) status.
Thank you very much, although I am working on the XC1, circa 2007, and the process you laid out was for the XG1. Is it the same regardless of XG1 or XC1?

I need to change the IP addresses on the fujifilm XC 1 reader. Not the CPU, but the reader itself. Please advise.

I believe the XC1 is the carbon. If this is the case, I do believe this is the same setups. \\
I will look further into this.
