Dishonest company Maxim Laser, Jennifer Cooper, Chris Cleary

June 23, 2009 10:36

I purchased a laser from Maxim Laser through Jennifer Cooper and Chris Cleary on May 8, 2009. They promised a laser in excellent working condition. Three weeks gone by with 2 missed delivery date, I was informed by Chris Cleary the machine was not at all in working condition. Over this period, we made numerous contacts with the company to the status of the machine and I was never told that the machine was defective. When the machine failed to be deliverd, I requested a full refund. It took a lot of phone calls to track Chris down. He promised to process the refund right away. That was about 3 weeks ago. On many occasions, he lied about the fund being transferred and then he made up excuses of missing wiring information. He e-mailed vague document of copy of wiring request from the bank. But there was neither any bank stamp or any indication the money was processed by the bank. I am still waiting for my refund after three weeks. This guy and Jennifer Cooper are still selling things on dotmed. They are not to be trusted.

When Amanda quoted you pricing on your Cutera Xeo it was prior to realizing the work and parts required to get the system working. The reality is your laser needed a new cavity witch would have cost you over $20,000.

We did discuss the cost of repairs and sell price with your office prior to completing your transaction. You clearly stated to proceed with the sale and requested we send you a list of repairs witch we did.

With the funds we spent, we are not making any money on the sale. In fact because of this experience Maxim will no longer consign systems that need repair.

Amanda has not been with Maxim Laser for over a month & I have not been getting your messages. I will call you today to discuss the final payment due to your office.

Dr. Ruecki,

First let me say we are going to do want ever is necessary to correct this problem. By showcasing your laser at the Aesthetic show we went into it with the best of expectations. After it did not sell we worked very hard to get the system sold. We were told that Cutera would have charged over 20K for repairs from a reliable source. My understanding was that this was cleared with your office. We honestly believed you would be happy getting something for a system that was worth = to what the cost of repairs would be.

Please give some consideration to what amount you think is fair and we will make good on this deal. We are a small business that was experimenting with an idea that clearly did not work. We have made adjustments accordingly and deeply apologies for your frustrations.

I will try your office again tomorrow in hopes of resolving this problem even if we loose money.

I have been very patient with Mr. Cleary and with Maxim Laser. Mr. Cleary has not been honest from day 1 since we first talked. He boasted how well he could service the machine if the purchase went through. He told me that the machine was working fine. He kept asking us to send over the fund right away to secure the purchase. Of course, we never received the machine. From that point onwards, we have been dealing with lies, unanswered phone messages, NSF cheque, empty promises and excuses.
With the help of a credit company, we did get back 50% of the money. We lost a lot in the exchange rate though. Mr. Cleary most likely realized the machine was defective at the time of my purchase. I just do not know how this guy can go to sleep at night.
Mr. Cleary clearly stated that he would refund the rest of the 50% the money by the end of October. I just want everybody on Dotmed to know that the money never came( Mr. Cleary, can you be truthful for once?)

For anybody who is reading this post: Is this a person whom you would like to have business with?

Mr. Cleary, tell us your excuse this time. I am still waiting for my refund in full.

We purchased an Iridex Apex system for Dr. Ngai and the cost was $5,900.00. Maxim has already refunded 50% of the money because when we received the system it was not in good working order. We have been trying to get Dr. Ngai’s money back from our seller but at this point it appears our company is going to be out the full amount. We will be refunding the balance at the end of October despite the fact that we are going to be loosing over $5,000.00

This kind of a situation is very rare and we are now talking additional precautions to prevent it from happing again.

And here I thought I was the only one to be "taken" by Chris Cleary and Maxim Laser. I too have a signed contract with Chris Cleary of Maxim Laser wherein they agreed to purchase my V-Beam laser. I satisfied my end of the contract by delivering the laser. His end was to pay me within 30 days. It is now 80 days and no payment, no effort to resolve the matter and no response to my daily voice messages to Mr. Cleary and to his office. To say I am frustrated is a gross understatement. Who does business this way and stays in business? I urge anyone reading this blog to steer very clear of these people. Contracts evidently mean nothing to them. Carlos Garcia, MD

1. Your V-Beam witch I was told only needed a die kit needed a total the total head rebuilt among other various things repaired. We had a very experienced service technician working on it for a week straight. The cost from Candela would have been 20K conservatively.
2. You are also getting $40,000.00 for the laser far over the value of a working system.
3. I e-mailed you today in response to your call.
4. I have told you that I will be making a payment to your account this week because of the delays on our end in dealing with the military.

Please understand that I am doing everything in my power to finish this transaction and we are close to completing it.

What both of the complaints have in comment is that their lasers were not working. As a new company that does no less then 4 - 6 positive laser sales each month I can assure you that I am going to think twice before doing any kind of repairs or military deals moving forward. Nobody getting “taken” I am committed to completing this transaction and deeply apologies for the delays in getting this funded. We are doing everything in our power to complete this transaction in working with the Army. Other then this taking longer then expected everything we committed to is happening.

For the record I paid Dr. Carlos Garcia the full $40,000.00 in December. We had several delays from the government & extra unexpected cost in laser repairs . We are no longer bidding on government contracts.

I purchased a laser from Maxim Laser through
Chris Cleary in December, 2009. They promised a laser in excellent working condition. since the machine was not at all in working condition and many parts missing, Chris promised to take it back right away with full refund.
since then, he has given us e-mails > 10 times in writing saying, that the money has been transferred in full without us getting even 1 dollar so far.
on other occasions, He doesnt want to respond to several e-mails or phone requests.
Its been the single most frustrating experience. numerous times he has stated, he tried to send it by bank wire, when that ploy failed, (Looks like as per him, no bank ias ever working_). then we told him to send him the refund by money order or draft and again many times he told us he is doing it without actually sending anything

Why this guy is still out frauding doctors and other people is beyond my understanding. Looks like my story is similar to many other posts over here. He promised to process the
refund right away. That was about 3 months ago. On many occasions, he lied about the fund being transferred and then he
made up excuses of missing wiring information. I am still waiting for my refund after four months.
This guy and Jennifer Cooper are still selling things on dotmed.
They are not to be trusted.

I plan to take him to court now and I hope other people in my situation could join me as well to prevent him from doing the same to other people

I have been scammed by Chris Cleary. I was told he had a revlite laser and gave him a 20 k deposit on it. When it came to deliver it he had nothing but excuses and finally told me he couldnt get it. Then when i asked for my deposit back he had nothing but excuses refunding it. I had to hire a lawyer and then only after a year i got my deposit back. Chris Cleary is a crook . Dont do business with him or this company.
