The World Federation of Athletic Training and Therapy (WFATT) will host the 2009 World Congress in San Antonio June 15 to 17, 2009. The forum is sponsored by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) with the theme of "Global Perspectives in Athletic Health Care."

"We are excited to bring together leading sports medicine professionals throughout the world to address health issues relevant to active populations," says Catherine Ortega, PhD, ATC, president of WFATT. "This meeting gives us the opportunity to better understand these issues globally and to advance the athletic training profession."

The World Congress will discuss topics at the forefront of international sports medicine today, including emergency planning, functional rehabilitation and injury prevention. Speakers from the United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, and the United States will present findings throughout the session.

The World Congress precedes NATA's annual meeting, and discounts are offered to nonmembers and students who sign up for both conferences. Nonmembers will receive a free NATA membership for the remainder of the year; the award-winning NATA News; and access to the Career Center and the Members Only section of the NATA Web site.
