New York Methodist Hospital has recently added a new support group for individuals who have been diagnosed with or think they may have chronic fatigue syndrome and/or fibromyalgia. The group is called the Chronic Fatigue Support Group and it will meet the first Monday of every month in the Hospital's Executive Dining Room, 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. Hepatitis C is a viral infection of the liver that infects tens of thousands of Americans each year. New York Methodist Hospital hosts a free support group for individuals diagnosed with hepatitis C and their family members, the Hepatitis C Support Group. The Hepatitis C Support Group is for those who have questions and concerns or who may be seeking treatment options for hepatitis C. The meeting will take place in the Hospital's Executive Dining Room, 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

This time of year can be especially hard when you are missing a loved one. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free Bereavement Support Group. This month the Bereavement Support Group will meet on Thursday, December 4, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A licensed clinical social worker facilitates the group. The meeting will take place in Buckley 820, 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

It is estimated that over 80 million American adults have one or more types of cardiovascular disease. To promote awareness about heart disease, New York Methodist Hospital will sponsor a free workshop on cardiovascular disease, the Healthy Heart Launch. The workshop will feature a lecture, free blood pressure screenings, yoga stretching, healthy heart recipes, and tips on how to exercise daily. The Healthy Heart Launch will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Brooklyn Public Library, located at 10 Grand Army Plaza.

Support Group for individuals diagnosed with cancer. This month the group will meet on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Both a physician and a chaplain lead the group. The meeting will take place in the Hospital's Radiation Oncology Conference Room, 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Obesity is an epidemic that impacts over nine million Americans. More and more people who are affected by obesity are seeking to learn about surgical weight reduction. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free Surgical Weight Reduction Information Seminar and Support Group. This month the group will meet on Thursday, December 18, 2008 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. During the first 30 minutes of the seminar, a surgeon will conduct an information session for individuals who are interested in learning about the surgery. A 90-minute support group meeting open to pre- and post-operative patients will follow the information session. The event will take place in the Hospital's Executive Dining Room, 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
