The North Texas Enterprise Center for Medical Technology (NTEC), a business accelerator for medical device and healthcare related technology firms, announced that ERGONURSE, an NTEC program company, is experiencing a steady increase in market penetration as hospital orders for its EZ-LIFT(TM) devices rise.

The ERGONURSE EZ-LIFT(TM) is a no-lift device that allows an individual caregiver to safely and quickly perform all the on-bed patient movement functions for a total care patient or obese patients weighing up to 500 pounds. The ERGONURSE EZ-LIFT(TM) is in use at several hospitals in Texas and the number continues to grow. Using the ERGONURSE EZ-LIFT(TM) is cost effective for the hospitals because it eliminates costly back and shoulder injuries to caregivers and prevents bedsores on patients.

According to the American Hospital Association (AHA), there were 5,747 hospitals in the U.S. in 2006 with over 947,000 staffed beds. In addition, the Veteran's Administration had another 165 hospitals with 25,000 beds. Combined, there are a total of 972,000 acute care beds in U.S. hospitals.

President of ERGONURSE David Stiles reports that the need for ERGONURSE EZ-LIFT (TM) is greatest in units such as medical/surgical, intensive care, critical care and long-term care where a high percentage of patients are designated total care. "These types of units make up approximately half of the beds in a hospital," says Stiles.

ERGONURSE is currently in pursuit of investment capital to fund expansion of their manufacturing, sales and customer support operations.
