Riverside achieved a significant milestone today in the announcement that Jessica Macalino, MSHA, has been named the first President of Riverside Smithfield Hospital (RSH). Jessica is a lifelong Hampton Roads resident, attending primary, middle and high school in Newport News and currently resides in Smithfield. She has been with Riverside since 2018 and has served as the Associate Vice President of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary service lines and more recently, the Associate Vice President of Support Operations at Riverside Regional Medical Center (RRMC).

“We are excited to welcome Jessica into this new leadership,” says Mike Dacey, M.D., President & CEO at Riverside. “She has consistently demonstrated a keen understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the health care field, and her vision and dedication will undoubtedly lead us toward achieving our mission in Smithfield.”

The 50-bed hospital in Isle of Wight is set to break ground on Wednesday, July 26 and construction is estimated to take around two and a half years to complete. The state-of-the-art hospital will offer the Smithfield, Isle of Wight and Surry counties more convenient access to high-quality, affordable medical care closer to home.

“I am honored to be named the first President of Riverside Smithfield Hospital and to be trusted to help bring the Riverside mission to life in the community I call home,” says Jessica Macalino, MSHA, President of Riverside Smithfield Hospital. “I am excited to help forge a path towards a healthier future, together, and as we continue to bring this vision to life over the coming years, I want to thank our community partners and all who made this possible.”

Riverside is committed to keeping you updated on the timeline for RSH and sharing milestones as this project gets closer to completion.
