Carestream Health has launched two wireless 100 micron pixel pitch X-ray detectors, Focus HD 35 and Focus HD 43.

Set to be displayed in November at the Radiological Society of North America 2022 Annual Meeting in Chicago, the detectors boost resolution and definition to create clearer images for viewing small objects and microstructures.

"The 100μm pixel pitch provides a higher resolution image for improved image details and allows for image magnification. Higher definition allows for clearer views and provides clinicians a higher level of diagnostic confidence," Jill Hamman, worldwide marketing manager of global X-ray solutions at Carestream, told HCB News.

Sizes include 35x43 cm and 43x43 cm, and both have an IP56 rating for better protection against dust and fluid ingress. Because the 43x43 cm detector is the larger of the two, it is somewhat better for imaging large body parts or bariatric patients.

Both utilize a Cesium (CsI) scintillator that works well when applied in exams of dose-sensitive pediatric patients, and ImageView Software powered by Eclipse for fast and accurate image-processing capabilities.

Eclipse utilizes proprietary algorithms and AI to increase the value of the entire imaging chain, while Carestream’s imaging and workflow intelligence solutions boost clarity, optimize dose, and enhance workflow efficiency.

Focus HD 35 and Focus HD 43 are compatible with the following solutions: the DRX-Compass OTC/FMT, DRX-Rise, DRX-Revolution, DRX-Evolution Plus/Evolution, DRX-Transportable System/Lite, DRX-Transportable/Universal Mobile, and DRX-1 System.

They are available in Algeria, Australia, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, the Philippines, South Africa, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.

In addition to Focus HD 35 and Focus HD 43, Carestream will be showcasing its Lux 35 detector, a lightweight, glass-free wireless solution which won Frost & Sullivan’s 2022 Global New Product Innovation Award.

The 14”x17” detector is Carestream’s lightest to date, weighing around five pounds, including the battery. It is easy to transport and reduces stress and fatigue for radiographers, makes positioning easier, and makes exams more comfortable for patients.

Frost & Sullivan said it “encompasses all of the attractive features of different digital radiography detectors in a single solution, making it the industry’s best DR detector.”

Carestream will be at booth #6750 in North Hall during RSNA 2022.
