DispatchHealth has acquired Dynamic Mobile Imaging
In-home healthcare provider DispatchHealth has become one of the largest mobile imaging providers following its acquisition of Dynamic Mobile Imaging.

DispatchHealth offers complex home-based care, including mobile imaging, in 29 states and 49 markets for more than 150 million patients.

Equipped with portable X-rays, ultrasounds, EKGs and echocardiograms, DMI provides care to patients in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living homes, correctional facilities, universities and homes across the east coast. Specifically, it cares for patients in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, Delaware, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Washington, D.C., and also offers holter monitors and dopplers.

The deal is expected to help create access to safer and more affordable medical care and help DispatchHealth save more than $2 billion in medical costs by 2023 as it continues to grow, COO Shannon Werb told HCB News. "DMI is patient-centric, which aligns with DispatchHealth's patient-first mentality, and the organization is a trailblazer in providing their services outside of traditional facility-based healthcare settings. Additionally, DMI's innovative approach to safe and effective mobile imaging and care resonates greatly with DispatchHealth."

DispatchHealth offers on-demand acute care to patients of all ages, and had emergency medicine and internal medicine personnel trained to treat common to complex injuries and illnesses. It also works closely with payers, providers, health systems, EMS, employer groups and others to tend to patients at home and reduce emergency room visits, hospital stays and readmissions.

Another company it acquired just earlier this year was Professional Portable X-ray, which expanded its available service lines into mobile radiology and allowed it to offer complete diagnostic X-Ray services to patients at home. In addition to having qualified, experienced technologists to directly send images to radiologists, PPX offers a workflow and management information system to electronically onboard, assign, capture and deliver results fast. It also offers ultrasound and EKG services and expects to expand these integrated offerings.

Before being acquired, PPX operated in Arizona, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Its mobile X-ray services were integrated with DispatchHealth’s other clinical service offerings, including Acute Care, Advanced Care and Extended Care.

"Since the PPX acquisition, we have expanded our mobile imaging services with PPX to 10 new markets. PPX and DMI complement each other in many aspects, including XRay technology innovation, workflow platform innovation, and a growth mindset, and we are excited to bring these capabilities to DispatchHealth," said Werb.

DMI will retain its name, with its CEO Debbie Berger continuing to lead day-to-day operations. "Dynamic Mobile Imaging was founded on the belief that there was a better way to provide imaging services and that was outside of traditional healthcare settings. This strongly shared belief with DispatchHealth and the organization's mission-driven approach to transforming healthcare is one that resonates greatly with our company," said Berger in a statement.
