Five Minutes in Healthcare - My photographs from 9/13 2001

by Philip F. Jacobus, CEO | September 13, 2021
I think all of us probably spent a fair amount of time this weekend looking back on the past 20 years and how the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 have shaped our personal lives and the course of history.

My wife and I lived and worked just a few blocks from the World Trade Center when the attacks took place. We remember the smoke and the fire and the experience of trying to get around the neighborhood in the days that followed.

Today, my phone reminded me that I had photos taken 20 years ago, just two days after the attacks, and I'd like to share them with you:

For all of the tragedy and sadness of 9/11, I am comforted at the memory of how that united us all together as Americans. That kind of national response seems in stark contrast to the U.S. today as we navigate a different kind of crisis.

As I honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, I look forward to the day this country stands unified again.
