Walgreens is launching mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Chicago and eventually nationwide
Walgreens is rolling out multiple mobile clinics throughout Chicago to deliver COVID-19 vaccinations to underserved communities and those who have difficulty accessing them.

The pharmacy store chain plans to launch additional mobile clinics over the next two months that will stop in multiple locations nationwide.

“Mobile clinics and the other models we use will allow us to bring vaccines to the heart of the most impacted communities, as well as addressing common barriers like transportation and convenience for those who want to get vaccinated,” said John Standley, president of Walgreens.

Individuals will be able to walk up and receive a vaccination from the mobile clinic, from a Walgreens pharmacy team member. Walgreens will partner with local organizations to let communities know ahead of time when the mobile clinics will be stopping in their area.

Walgreens also plans to implement same-day COVID-19 vaccine appointments in all of its retail locations nationwide by May 5, with walk-in appointments available at select stores across the U.S. It will partner with more than 100 employers as part of Test and Protect COVID-19 efforts, including Apple and Amtrak, to protect thousands of employees and will work to ensure broad availability of Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines in stores, as more people become eligible to for the vaccines.

Walgreens has hosted more than 700 vaccination clinics across the U.S. at churches and community centers.
