Canon Medical has unveiled its latest digital X-ray system, a portable solution designed to perform quick examinations at the patient’s bedside.

The SOLTUS 500 Mobile Digital X-ray is equipped to enhance workflow and productivity without sacrificing image quality and safety.

"The SOLTUS 500 builds on previous Canon Medical systems with its smaller footprint and improved workflow efficiency," Jay Aboujaoude, managing director of the X-Ray business unit at Canon Medical Systems USA, told HCB News. "Onboard charging of the detector (meaning that the system is always charged); tube head display to accommodate critical care exams; and an enhanced workflow feature that facilitates ability to connect to PACS and close exams at point of care, are features that will be especially useful."

Among its features are intuitive tube head controls that provide enhanced ease-of-use and include an 8.4-inch touch screen display and dual collimator controls for increased access and accuracy. It also supports exams from start to finish at point of care through the use of its Enhanced Workflow Package, and optimizes detector wireless range with the Distributed Antenna System.

Patient safety and security for patients, clinicians and the facility are enabled by the system’s anti-collision technologies, pressure sensitive steering, improved maneuverability and smart ID card log-in for secure accessibility. An additional offering is SOLTUS 500’s simplified detector charging and storage capacity, which enables space and functionality for detector charging, storage and accommodating accessories such as disinfection wipes and protective bags.

"The SOLTUS 500 will especially be useful in critical and intensive care, NICU and pediatrics, surgery, emergency, and general med/surg point-of-care exams," said Aboujaoude. "Dedicated isolation units, urgent care and free-standing emergency centers will also benefit from the system."

In addition to SOLTUS 500, Canon recently launched a new configuration of the Aquilion ONE / GENESIS Edition, the Aquilion ONE / GENESIS SP, a complete CT solution with proven cardiovascular capabilities. Designed for the needs of structural and coronary imaging, the scanner enables consistent, high-quality studies through its AI-powered wide-area CT.

“Canon Medical’s CT product line, including the Aquilion ONE / GENESIS SP, is designed to offer complete cardiac capabilities,” said Erin Angel, managing director of the CT business unit at Canon Medical Systems USA, in a statement. “The platform was designed to be intuitive, making the acquisition of high quality images easy and reliable across the full spectrum of patients and clinical scenarios.”

SOLTUS 500 is on display now at this year’s virtual AHRA annual meeting, taking place from Aug. 11-13.

The solution is FDA-cleared.
