Aside from announcing partnerships with companies that have integrated MaxQ AI’s stroke and head trauma application into imaging systems and AI marketplaces, MaxQ AI revealed at RSNA that it had achieved ISO 27001 certification, an international standard for information security management.

While the certification isn’t mandatory, the company chose to pursue the certification to assure customers that it is doing everything it can to protect patient information from data breaches.

The certification includes a multi-day external audit, instead of a self-assessment, in which the company shows the governing body the policies and procedures it has in place to safeguard patient data, including how networks are designed and incidents will be handled, said Robert Mehler, cofounder, chief operating officer and chief information security officer of MaxQ AI.

The process took about 15 months, Mehler said, and security is built into each division of the company, including sales, marketing, finance and even human resources.

Various companies — including Arterys, Blackford, GE Healthcare, Nuance and Philips — announced that MaxQ AI’s ACCIPIO ICH and Stroke Platform, a software application for flagging intracranial hemorrhage in non-contrast head CT images, would be integrated into their AI application marketplaces, their CT imaging systems or their PACS.

“We are providing software to major manufacturers like Philips, GE, IBM, Fujifilm and more,” Mehler told HCB News. “They need to know that the providers they’re receiving technology from have high standards.”
