(REDWOOD CITY, CA, November 5, 2019) - After securing $35 million in Series B capital funding this summer, Exo (pronounced “Echo”) Imaging continues to expand its team with proven leaders that have extensive ultrasound experience to lead the business from ideation to commercialization.

“People, talent and the drive to impact billions of people are the soul of Exo. To have some of the top talent in the imaging industry leaving established imaging companies to join us is validating," said Sandeep Akkaraju, Co-Founder and CEO of Exo Imaging.

Key additions to the Exo team include:

Andy Berthusen, Vice President, Sales
Most recently general manager for GE’s point of care ultrasound business, Andy’s global perspective will shape the clinical potential of ultrasound and other technologies in the delivery of care, especially in a critical care environment. With broad experience in product development, marketing, and sales of medical devices, Andy will be instrumental in defining the commercialization strategy at Exo.

Andy emphasizes that, “Exo is approaching ultrasound completely differently, and in this rapidly evolving market and technology landscape, this brand of revolutionary thinking is essential to change the delivery of care. I’m excited about the potential of the Exo team because we are creating the impossible.”

Kutay Ustuner, Ph.D., Vice President, Imaging Systems
Kutay brings 30 years of experience in medical ultrasound imaging across every phase of R&D: strategy and roadmap, design, development and optimization of technologies, platforms and products. He led core engineering and innovation teams at Acuson and Siemens during his tenure. Kutay is the inventor or co-inventor on more than 40 US patents, many of them applied in commercially available ultrasound systems.

Don Nisler, Senior Director, Cloud Services
Don has more than 20 years of experience developing and marketing point-of-care ultrasound systems and related workflow solutions. He has a deep and extensive background in healthcare as a consultant and an entrepreneur and has worked for several large medical device companies. Previously, Don was founder and CEO of Telexy Healthcare, a leader in point-of-care ultrasound workflow solutions.

Sandeep also expressed, “At Exo, we are on a remarkable journey to impact healthcare for generations to come. Andy, Kutay and Don are proven leaders in delivering medical imaging solutions. We welcome them to the team and look forward to their contributions on making medical imaging accessible to all.”
