The strong exhibitor registration for COMPAMED 2019, High-tech Solutions for Medical Technology, again confirmed the trade fair’s importance as the international leading market and information platform for suppliers in the medical technology industry. Held concurrently with MEDICA 2019, the world's largest medical trade fair, the two halls of COMPAMED 2019 will once again be fully booked with more than 800 exhibitors from almost 40 nations. COMPAMED and MEDICA will take place from November 18 – 21, 2019 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

“Companies participate in COMPAMED in order to prove their innovative strength and be able to assert themselves in an increasingly demanding market environment,” explained Wolfram Diener, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf.

Although economic growth is generally predicted to slow both globally and in most European countries, the market for medical technology and medical products remains very robust and growth-oriented. However, the industry faces numerous challenges.

“Increasing trade restrictions, complex approval procedures, increased pressure on margins or Brexit - the market situation demands a bundling of forces. What is needed above all is a focus on future issues and close cooperation between suppliers, medical technology providers and users. COMPAMED and MEDICA in their worldwide unique combination therefore offer an ideal platform for forging partnerships and developing joint business,” commented Wolfram Diener.

Expertise and skills from small companies and big groups alike

The registered exhibitors are both small and middle-sized companies as well as renowned groups such as Covestro, Evonik, Mitsubishi Chemical and Panasonic. “COMPAMED is ideal for establishing direct contact with all major players in medical technology. Here we talk in a relatively short time with many decision-makers along the entire value chain. COMPAMED is therefore a very efficient way for us to establish new business relationships or intensify existing customer contacts,” stated Dr. Philip Engel, a Business Development Manager in the Medical Devices & Systems Segment at Evonik. Visitors can look forward to seeing a multitude of innovations, according to Dr. Engel: “As a specialty chemicals company, we offer a wide range of high-performance plastics for medical technology. At this year’s COMPAMED, we are most excited about presenting the world’s first implant-grade PEEK filament for use in 3D printers. We will also present resorbable materials and specialist plastics for short-term or long-term body contact. PEEK, a high-performance material, can be used in fused filament fabrication technology and is intended to enable additive manufacturing of 3D plastic parts for human implants.”

Mitsubishi Chemical will also present their latest innovations. “We offer products, services and solutions with high added value. Medical and healthcare is a focal topic. In order to reach the right target group, we consider COMPAMED to be perfect for presenting our diverse product portfolio from various affiliated companies, “ remarked Dick C. Hoogerdijk, Director of Marketing & New Business Development at Mitsubishi Chemical Europe.

Large microtechnology presentation

Exhibitors from the microtechnology sector will once again be strongly represented at COMPAMED 2019. The "High-tech for Medical Devices" product market of the IVAM Microtechnology Association in Hall 8a with 7,500 square feet and over 50 participations represents the largest joint stand at COMPAMED 2019. The focus here will be on innovations in the key technologies of microtechnology, nanotechnology, photonics and new materials.

The microtechnology sector is benefitting from the current trends of miniaturization and digitalization. Medical technology devices, instruments and products are becoming smaller and lighter to use while retaining their high performance and including technical data networking options. Accordingly, medical technology suppliers need high-tech components in miniature format from their suppliers, such as actuators, chips, cameras, sensors, radio modules or suitable batteries and data storage devices. Examples of applications include micro-endoscopes, lab-on-a-chip applications for fast diagnostics and a wide variety of implants.

Large range and attractive ancillary program

The diverse range of products and events at COMPAMED 2019 in Halls 8a and 8b will include components for medical technology (electronics, components, hoses, filters, pumps, and valves, among other items), materials/ substances, micro- and nanotechnology, made-to-order manufacturing, electronic manufacturing services (EMS), complex manufacturing and equipment partnerships (e.g. OEM – Original Equipment Manufacturers) as well as packaging and services.

The diverse ancillary program will be packed with expert knowledge. The COMPAMED SUPPLIERS FORUM organized by the DeviceMed journal (in Hall 8b) will focus on trend topics from the entire process chain of medical technology manufacturing. Topics of the expert lectures will include mechanical and electronic components as well as innovative materials and all types of contract manufacturing.

The COMPAMED HIGH-TECH FORUM (Hall 8a) presented by the IVAM Microtechnology Network will focus on microsystem technology, nanotechnology, production technology and process control.

The main target groups of COMPAMED are predominantly technical buyers, specialists in research, development and packaging, production managers, construction engineers and process engineers. Of the 120,000 professional visitors at MEDICA and COMPAMED last year, almost 20,000 were specifically interested in the topics addressed at COMPAMED.
