Visiting Kansas City for HTMA Mid West

by Philip F. Jacobus, CEO | November 07, 2018
A few weeks ago, I flew to Kansas City to attend the Healthcare Technology Management Association of the Mid West annual symposium.

I landed in Kansas City and drove to the almost brand new Embassy Suites in Olathe. I was really impressed with how beautiful the countryside was on that sunny Friday afternoon and how considerate the drivers were, compared to what I am used to in New York City.

Friday evening, the show was open for a meet and greet. On Saturday throughout the day, the exhibit hall was open so that between sessions the attendees could stop by and say hello.

Everybody was really, very nice. The attendees could not have been more friendly or welcoming and the event organizers, could not have been more accommodating.

There were a decent amount of exhibitors and it seemed as though all of the attendees took the time to stop by almost every booth.

I listened to Herman McKenzie give a talk on the goals and objectives of the Joint Commission and how to be prepared for a Joint Commission inspection. Herman was an engaging speaker and his presentation took HTM professionals into account.

The DOTmed booth was right next to Advanced Ultrasound Solutions and George Hryshchuk and I visited about the FDA report and the ongoing discussion about third-party servicing and remanufacturing. Tommy Creal with Adepto was giving out lottery tickets and even gave one to me. Since you are reading this, you can safely assume that I did not win.

Doug Dreps and I talked about the importance of diet and Doug shared some interesting YouTube videos with me. I even found out that Harold Duryea receives two copies of our magazine so I will save our magazine $20.00/year.

I really enjoyed the event and I was really impressed with all of the people there and I am looking forward to next year.
