The underutilized power of data in providing value-based care

Radiology is sitting on vast amounts of operational data that is not being used to its full potential; the future of imaging depends on the seamless integration between data and insights across multiple modalities and systems.

At RSNA, Philips debuted IntelliSpace Portal 8.0, which advances data sharing, analytics and visualization through a platform that helps radiologists detect, diagnose and follow-up on treatment of diseases, such as cancer. This new platform delivers 3-D quantitative renderings of tumors in a fully integrated oncology suite to improve diagnostic confidence and patient care. This was highlighted at RSNA during Philips' MMTT/qEASL Symposium, where physician partners from Yale University, MD Anderson and Charité Berlin discussed the concept of volumetric measurements as a tool for response assessment in cancer treatment.

To provide value-based care, radiologists want customized, data-driven management approaches that combine imaging with services, informatics and analytics to improve care delivery and reduce costs.

Philips' Radiology Solutions, a fully integrated, consultative approach to enhance radiology practice management, was created to fill this need and was launched at RSNA. Developed in close collaboration with hospitals, including UW Medicine, and powered by the technology of Philips' HealthSuite digital platform, this solution uses data intelligence to spotlight what radiologists need to transform their practices to improve patient care and workflows. This platform allows health systems to use actionable insights from data to drive improvements, ultimately benefiting patients with higher-quality care.
