BRIT Systems, Inc. announced on Thursday that they have been acquired by Imaging Advantage, LLC (IA). BRIT will be a wholly owned subsidiary of IA.
BRIT will provide IA with PACS, workstation and teleradiology solutions and a development team to improve their operations. IA will give BRIT a market for their tools as well as expertise on workflow and implementations, various studies regarding stress testing and radiology consultants who can give feedback on product improvements.
"The advantage is that they have a more direct line to our development and we have a more direct line to their radiologists," Shelly Fisher, president of BRIT, told DOTmed News.
BRIT will also have access to IA's RadAdvisor — the clinical decision support tool for radiology orders that is funded by CMS and ensures that the right study is being ordered. BRIT believes that they will be able to "substantially contribute" to improving the tool.
IA's and BRIT's goal is to work together to develop, test and implement cost-effective solutions that satisfy regulatory requirements and increase efficiency for radiologists.
"Everybody knows that the radiology world is changing and the goal of everybody is going to become more efficient," said Fisher. BRIT is no longer just selling reporting tools — along with IA they are going to provide their customers with a much more comprehensive solution that helps the radiologists communicate the report back to the referring physicians in a timely manner.
BRIT will retain their leadership and remain in Dallas instead of moving to Phoenix where IA is located. At this year's RSNA conference, the two companies will be unveiling their first joint offering.
