Checking in with Nicki Everhart at Alliance HealthCare Services

by Nancy Ryerson, Staff Writer | December 05, 2012
Nicki Everhart
In the spirit of our upcoming Mobile Imaging issue, DOTmed News caught up with Nicki Everhart, director of procurement at Alliance HealthCare Services, which includes the country's largest mobile imaging company, Alliance Imaging. The company makes more than 55,000 moves a year. Everhart reflected on her first year with the company and what's up next.

How long have you been in the industry?
I have been with Alliance Healthcare Services for approximately a year. I joined them at the beginning of 2012. Before that, I was with a company called Oncure Medical Corps. I was with them for about four and a half years. At Alliance, I'm the National Director of Procurement, so I have responsibility for the oncology, imaging, and the resource and IT procurement. At Oncure Medical, I was the director of purchasing and project management.

What got you started in the medical world?
I have been doing purchasing and procurement for about 25 years now. I did decide to take this career path shortly after my brother and my father were diagnosed with cancer. I just wanted to be part of the industry, giving back to people.

What has your experience been like at Alliance HealthCare Services over the last year?
It's been a great experience. We've driven a lot of cost savings with standardization, by signing agreements with our vendors that provide a sole source. We've also been working with several GPOs to drive down costs.

Tell me more about your company.
We are the largest mobile imaging company in the world. We're a solution for people who want a mobile imaging site, are making some changes at their hospital center, are getting ready to install an imaging device, or for whom cash flow isn't what it used to be. You can put in one of our units and get the benefits without spending too much.

What's next for you and the company?
We are in the process of implementing a very robust request for quote process. An internal process, basically an invoice approval process. We are in the process of investigating that and rolling that out in 2013.
