Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. said Tuesday it installed the first open-bore 3T Vantage Titan MRI in the United States.
Steinberg Diagnostics Medical Imaging Center in Las Vegas got the device, which has a 71-centimeter opening and features the company's Pianissimo noise-reduction technology. According to Toshiba, the technology dampens the scanner's noise by about 90 percent.
The Vantage Titan 3T received Food and Drug Administration clearance in August 2011.
Earlier this year, Toshiba said it had installed more than 1,200 Vantage MRIs. Other Vantage family products include the 1.5T Vantage Titan and the Vantage Atlas.
Toshiba America is headquartered in Tustin, Calif.
