A lobby for OEMs involved in the medical imaging trade announced Monday it has a new chief.
Gail Rodriguez was promoted to executive director of the Medical Imaging and Technology alliance, a trade organization for manufacturers of medical imaging and radiation therapy equipment, and a division of National Electrical Manufacturers Association, the group said.
Rodriguez joined MITA last year as director of policy, a MITA rep told DOTmed news by e-mail Monday. In that role, she oversaw the group's X-ray imaging products section and directed the PET group. MITA said Rodriguez, who holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Kansas, has a background in radiopharmaceuticals and PET.
Rodriguez is replacing outgoing executive director David Fisher, who first took the reins in September 2009, and who is now heading to a position at Siemens, a MITA rep said.
MITA also said that it had hired Charles S. Konigsberg to serve as chief, strategy and policy, for both NEMA and MITA. Konigsberg previously worked as assistant director of the Office of Management and Budget during the Clinton administration, and served as counsel and chief health counsel with the Senate Finance Committee under the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
Lindsay Morris, previously the director of government relations and acting executive director, was also promoted to senior director, MITA said. Morris has been with MITA for three years, and previously was a congressional staffer, MITA said.
