Refurbished CT and MRI dealer Atlas Medical Technologies of Florida has named former AHRA national president Glenn "Skip" Watkins its new CEO, as part of a reshuffling of top-level management.

Watkins took the chief executive position on Jan. 1, the company said in a statement.

Watkins, who has worked in health care for nearly 40 years, originally joined Atlas in 2009 as director of sales for the southeastern United States. Before getting hired by Atlas, he spent nearly a decade in the mobile PET market, having served as president of Mobile PET Imaging of Florida Inc. and vice president of Shared PET Imaging of Florida LLC.

He has also held nearly a dozen roles with AHRA: The Association for Medical Imaging Management, and served as national president from 1990 to 1991.



St.Petersburg-based Atlas of Florida's three founders, Ronald Brewer, Richard Scholz and Rick Stockton, have also taken up new roles, the company said. Brewer will serve as chief operating office, Scholz as vice president of operations and Stockton as vice president of business development. The three men launched Atlas in 2003.

Watkins said the company is positioning itself to enjoy strong growth over the next three to five years, and the reshuffling was done to play to the strengths of each executive. Brewer, for instance, who will oversee the company's engineering team, has an extensive engineering background, having begun his career with Pfizer Medical Systems in the late 1970s.

"The name of the game is growing the business, and serving our customers as good or better than we have in the past," Watkins told DOTmed News.

Last summer, Atlas of Florida bought back from Nationwide Imaging Services its California branch, which was sold in 2009.
