RSNA 2011: Agfa Healthcare launches new mobile X-ray unit with a wireless detector

DX-D 100 Wireless
On Sunday — the first day of this year's annual RSNA meeting — Agfa Healthcare, a global provider of diagnostic imaging and health care IT solutions, announced the release of its DX-D 100 Wireless, a mobile digital X-ray unit with a wireless detector. The product is now available with the DX-D 30C wireless, a portable DR detector.

"We know that [the DR] market segment is hot right now," says Greg Cefalo, Agfa Healthcare's U.S. direct radiography business unit manager. "A lot of customers want to upgrade their portable capability from whatever they have now to a digital system."

Using Agfa Healthcare's MUSICA² imaging processing software and NX workstation, the DX-D 100 Wireless is said to help enhance patient safety, comfort and positioning for bedside mobile imaging. It can be used with many types of general radiography X-ray studies, producing high quality images from low exposure times.

Another noteworthy aspect of the DX-D 100 Wireless is that it works well in small spaces, promoting more efficient workflow. It is also easier to transport, says Cefalo, who mentions that some other mobile units have a hard time traveling – clearing the lip of an elevator entrance, for example.

Installations of the globally-available product will commence in December.
