Computer-assisted coding (CAC) company A-Life Medical recently announced the appointment of its new director of product management, Bill Sheehan. A 20-year veteran in product marketing and management, Sheehan will focus on fine-tuning and expanding the company's software based on customer feedback.

Sheehan says he looks forward to being part of the "well-established" company, as the industry of medical information technology grows and changes.

Sheehan has worked for multiple Fortune 500 companies, including Microsoft and Intel.

"We're excited about having Bill on board because he's 'been there, done that' with large Fortune 500 companies," the company's president, Jaye Connolly, tells DOTmed News.

When A-Life Medical first came out with a CAC product almost 15 years ago, it was a "nice-to-have tool," says Connolly. But with the adoption of electronic health records and the impact of the ICD-10 (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems), CAC is "going to be a necessity," she says.
